Default Dash light issue

1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 302

The lights on the speedometer and clock went out. I decided to replace them. I removed the gauges and notice a burnt line going down the circuits of the circuit board. I bought a new one and swapped it out. Turned the key and turned on the lights and smoke started coming out of the dash.

I removed the gauges and noticed the same circuit line was burnt again. Any ideas on what to check to see what caused this?

Whatever that feeds is shorting to ground. Time to start chasing the spark path.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking it was something on that line but I was not quite sure.
