Tried to upload a couple of pictures but I'm technologically challenged. I'll have to get help from my 10 year old grandson.

Wow.

One other thought: do you have a fan shroud, and if so, is the fan properly spaced in the shroud opening?

Yeah thats a nice looking mustang.
Fan shrouds are important for directing air through the radiator rather than allowing it run along the side.

Yes, have the original shroud and an OEM clutch fan.

Im of the opinion that for some reason your radiator is not transferring heat out of the water into the air very well.

its only 90f and you have a only a 10 deg difference between inlet and outlet water on your radiator. 195 bottom hose vs 205 top hose

Its 102f in my case and Im getting 35deg deference between top and bottom hose..

1) Can you feel air being pulled through that radiator? like you could stick a envelope to the front of it and it would stick no problem?
2) does the air coming off the back of the radiator feel very hot? it should almost burn
3) are you sure the clutch is full engaging the fan there should be massive amounts of air blowing off the back of the rad.

I have a 70 Mach 1 with a 428 and several 390 Mercury's. I live in the desert so it often gets to triple digits here. The major problems I have encountered is a collapsing lower hose. I could actually see the hose collapse when I revved the engine. A new hose and a good aftermarket flex fan seemed to solve it for me. Also too much timing can effect things. Also if the engine has been rebuilt, cylinder walls could be too thin.

Thanks barstowpo. I got a lot of good advice. I appreciate it. The hose seems to OK, the clutch fan is working and the timing is right. Ordered a Flex a lite pusher fan. Will give that a try.

You said that the radiator was re-cored? Is that correct? If so how is that possible / accomplished?

You could have the rad flushed / checked...I had glycol build up in a rad that was less than a year old and it stopped flowing well.

If your measurements are accurate I wouldn't expect any noticeable improvement with a pusher fan but Im as curious as you about the results.

Do keep us updated.

How new is the water pump? It could have a bad impeller internally.
