Slip Yoke Dust Boot

Slip Yoke Dust Boot
Fellow members I need some help. During the installation of my driveshaft I dislodged the dust boot. Is there a recommended technique for pressing it back into the groove.
The boot is so flimsy I can seem to push it in on one side without the other side from popping out. I tried with the slip yoke out. In the morning I plan to try again with the slip yoke in (as a hard backing, rotating and pressing towards the trans).
Any recommendations based on your experiences is appreciated.

The dust boot does help keep dirt off the oil seal which is right behind it.
I would press it in the best you can and run RTV black silicone around the edge if it wont stay put.
If that doesnt work just run it without the dust boot. It should provide a few more years of service even without it. When the oil seal does leak it can be changed fairly easy.
