Transmission issues?
Hello! I am new to posting threads, but would like some opinions on a issue with my mustang.
I own a 1966 mustang, 289 engine with 3-speed transmission.
The family and I took our beloved stang out for a hour yesterday and it was running fine. We were about a mile from the storage unit where we keep when the oil pressure gauge went below low. Engine didn't act any different at this point. When I tried to drive the car in the storage unit, I couldn't get the front tires to roll over a two lip in the storage unit concrete while in first gear. I turned the car off and put it in neutral and my wife and I tried to push the car but it would not budge. At this point I had started the car back up, put the car in reverse and had the RPM up high and she moved backwards. Then put the car in first and had the RPM up high and finally got it in the storage unit. It was probably not the best idea to do that, but had to get her put away.
I ended up spending the night thinking what could have gone wrong. First thing that puzzled me was not being able to push the car in neutral. I thought maybe jacking up the rear and seeing if the rear wheels and drive train would freely move. Thoughts on this?
Next for what is happening on not able to move the car in gear. Could this be a clutch box issue or linkage issue.
I have never worked on a transmission and need all the help I can get. All opinions are welcome.
Thanks!

If you are going to replace the transmission I would replace it with a Richmond Gear 5-Speed...just my opinion.

Need to get the wheels off the ground and see if your problem is there first. Brakes could have locked up somewhere, ask me how I know. Got to find the problem before you can fix what's broke. May not be transmission related...
If you still have drum brakes on the rear, they are self-adjusting. Each time you back up, the system tries to tighten the star wheel adjuster. Sometimes these can be too aggressive and the brakes get locked. The oil pressure is a different problem and could be quite serious. After checking the sensor, you should drop the pan to see if the pump pick-up is fouled with sludge, if the sensor is good..
I originally thought about jacking up the rear and trying to turn the wheel. If it doesn't move it could be the clutch is stuck in gear or locked-up brakes. So I would assume that if the brakes pads are stuck up against the brake drum then it will be difficult to get the drum off. Any suggestions on how to get the drum off.
If the brakes are locked then would the main culprit be the wheel cylinder. Recently the car was inspected and the mechanic said the wheel cylinders were showing signs of leaks.
Thanks you for your thoughts.
Leaking cylinders would cause the brakes not to work. If it is the brakes, the adjuster or springs need service. Leaking cylinders should be replaced. Even with self-adjusting brakes, there is a hole or slot in the backing plate for manual adjustment. These should have a plug to keep water and other crap out. Release the brakes by using a screw driver or adjusting tool (bent double ended flat screw driver) to move the shoes out from the drums.
