Gauge issue. Goes normal, then drops to bottom

Gauge issue. Goes normal, then drops to bottom
So, working on a 65. Temp and fuel gauges. New senders, all wiring, instrument voltage regulator. All wiring is American autowire, parts are orielleys.
The really strange part is the operation. When you turn the ignition on, the gauge goes to where it should be (ex 1/2 tank gas, middle temp warmed up) but then drops back out like you turned the key off.
What am i missing?
