Hi. Can someone eyeball these undercarriage photos of a 1967 Ford Mustang? It's a straight 6. I'm so accustomed to seeing dual pipes coming out of the exhaust manifold. That's not the case here. Is it weird? Shoddy work? Maybe a generally accepted practice? The car runs pretty well, but it knocks and pings a bit. Could be a number of things but want to ask the pros. Thx.
It occurred to me minutes after I posted this that it might be normal because a straight six would not have dual exhaust, just a single. So am I just a little less dumber than I was 10 minutes ago?
They came from the factory with just the single pipe. My dad has a '65 convertible and '67 coupe, both inline 6s. He has run dual exhaust all the way out the back from an aftermarket header. They both sound pretty good. There is a certain civility about the stock exhaust that I like though.
