Wiring help needed: some things work, some things don't
I am having trouble figuring out what is causing a wiring problem in my Mustang. I just bought this 1966 I6 Mustang several days ago.
THESE THINGS DO NOT WORK:
cigarrette lighter,
windshield wipers,
turn signals (new flasher has been installed)
emergency flashers,
reverse lights do not come on in reverse,
parking lamps do not turn on when headlights on,
horn.
THESE THINGS DO WORK:
headlights,
interior lights,
dashboard lights,
highbeam indicator light,
windshield washer pump,
heater fan turns on.
All fuses in fusebox have been replaced.
Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

Check all the grounds to see if they are clean. Start with the fuse box and work your way to the dash area. You might also want to consider replacing those 40 year old wires in the near future. http://mustangmonthly.com/techarticl...ems/index.html

You can find a good wiring diagram here. It helped me a lot with our 65http://www.com/tocmp.com

Glad to know I'm not the only one with wiring problems. Here's some steps that could help:
1. Check the fuses
2. Check the bulbs (on the lights)
3. Check the connections. (my horn didnt work right because of this)
4. Check the grounds.
5. Check for cuts in the wires connecting them. (This is what happened to me with all my dome lighting.)
A wiring diagram helps a lot when checking these things.

Ok, I'm gonna share my secret weapon that I use to combat bad Female Contact...
This thing will cost you slightly less than the budget my wife gave me for my next mod, bit trust me, it's well worth it.
Repeat for every connector in the car.
Don't forget to apply some battery terminal slime to each connector to keep the corrosion down.
Once I finished running through my car I had much brighter lights.
Enjoy!
BTW: That connector is NOT installed on my car.
