Did all that already before I posted here. Ebay had 2 aircleaners that were far worse than mine and only one of those had the chrome lid I am looking for. I've also searched several new parts vendors with no luck.

Usually the guys here are pretty good about sharing finds for places that have hard-to-get items.

i would just send the lid of yours of to be re-chromed and get the lower half and the snorkel sandblasted and just refurbish the old one, itll cost you more but will be worth it

I haven't found a NOS part, so Joe has the best idea of getting the original re-chromed.

Thanks guys it looks like that will be what I have to do. I haven't had the need to get anything re-chromed before so I was hoping to just get a replacement. I don't know how much it will cost but I guess that's the price to keep as many thing orig as I can. That's why I'm replacing the Clev 2v air cleaner with the 4v unit. The 2v unit was the only one I could find at resto time.

Maybe if the cost isnt that great, I'll get a few other items done at the same time.

it shouldnt cost more than 100 bucks, im just guessing, but when i had the front bumper gaurds done on mine, it cost 25 per one, so figure about 75 bucks i would assume

I think you're pretty close on the re-chrome price. I just spoke to a guy who estimated around 50-60 for the aircleaner lid and about 40 to do my rear bumper guards. I'm going to take those over and get them done next week.

I just need to get the rest of the aircleaner sanded & painted. I think Scott had one he had PIC's of as he was doing his. That was a great job he did on that. Looked like new!

This reminds me of the old Johnny Cash song "One Piece at a Time". I don't know if I'll ever truly be done where a classic is involved. It seems like there is always something I want to tweek a bit.
