Default Car lifts

I would like two install a 2 post lift in my garage with between 7-9K pound capacity. I have been looking at several models, but they all seem to be priced at around 2.400 bux. I guess that is about the norm for a quality lift, but that sounds kinda high to me. Do any of you guys have any advice regarding lifts?

As it is now....I am a retard school teacher, trying to feed mama and still have enough left over for these kind of toys. I would have to restructue the garage ceiling to accept it, and try to figure out how to strengthen the concrete under it. I would probably have to jack hammer out the two post areas, then dig down and pour in reinforced concrete. Sounds like an overwhelming job, but in the end I think I would be very happy to not have to crawl under the stang every time I wanted to work on the underside. Oh well, we can dream, can't we?

Soaring,

I have been looking at doing the same thing. I have found several outlets for them in the $1500 to 2K range. As a matter of a fact there is a quality lift maker in Ft Worth. This would save you $ on shipping if you pick it up. Below are a few I have found that I felt was a good deal. Good Luck on the search.

New or used, go with a make that has a good parts distribution system. I have five 7k lifts in my shop. Two are genuine Nussbaums, one is a Pheonix and two were made in the Czech republic. They are Nussbaum clones and use the same parts as the genuine Nussbaum's.

OK Gary...Thanks for all that information. The more I look at them, the more my appetite is whetted. I just have to get one. Maybe I can make mama understand that bread and water isn't such a bad meal afterall. When I get all settled in the new house, I'll contact you about the Ft. Worth outlet. I have a 1/2 ton Ford Lariat with a flat bed trailer that surely will haul it so I can save on shipping costs.

Soaring,

When you get setteled in and get ready to make that purchase, let me know, perhaps we can get a discount with the purchase of 2. Maybe if other want to get in on it we can further the discounts with additional units. I will be happy to negociate the deal with the vendor if it will help.
Gary
