Default Advice needed on what to

Hello, everyone. I am new here. I have a few questions.

I just saw my neighbor put up a for sale sign on his 66 mustang. He is wanting 6500, the odometer indicates 28000 miles, how can I tell if it's not 128000 miles? The car is in far condition for a 66. Is the price right? What should I check for? What year is the best for the 1st gen mustangs?

thanks

There really wouldn't be much way of telling if it had 228,000. Things to look for are original stuff like wires, exaust system, interior etc... I have a 69 Cougar that has 108K. It still had the "autolite" wires. With low mieage cars, things like battery cables and most of the engine parts should be what came on it.

......Sorry, As for value, If it only had 28K, $6000 aint too bad.

He wants 6500 AMERICAN??? Seems a little high to me, I sold a 66 last summer for 6500 Canadian. The main thing is that the car is rust free and you don't have to slam a whole bunch more money into it to restore it the way you want it. If it is all done and has that low mileage then I would say it could be a good deal, otherwise keep looking there are lots out there for way less. Make sure you check the floor panels as they ALWAYS rust out and behind the wheel wells, take it and get it on a hoist before you buy it....good luck!!

To really get an idea of what the car is worth, Give us some more info...Like what engine and options the 66 has. BTW, Did the owner say the odometer was actual mileage?
