Default special ordered 70

I was wondering wether anyone would be able to help me. My father has a 70 Sportsroof vin# 0F02M16210. According to the FOMOCO data plate decoder it has a 351 Cleveland 4V. It's not a Mach1 and it's also got factory 651 emblems on the fenders and a shaker scoop. Also years ago when the block went out Dover machine shop that rebuilt the heads said they were "cobra jet heads". He bought the car 9 years old unmodified from an old lady who's husband died. I can't find any similar references to any combos like this. I've seen lots of references to the Cobrajet on 429's or Windsors but never to 351's. Bottom line I was wondering if anyone with good first hand knowledge could tell me if it was possible to order this combo from the factory or if the info was incorrect. Also if this setup would give the car any braggng rights.

1970
Sportsroof
351cid-4V Cleveland
Shaker Scoop
Original 351 emblems

Thanks guys

In the early 70's, the 351 cobrajet heads were emissions friendly versions that reduced the CR, yet still sounded tough. I think they came in 72 or 73. The original owner could have swapped them in, but there is no advantage from a HP perspective. Can you find the casting number on them?

As 69mach1377 has already mentioned, 351 CJ heads were only produced in 72 & 73. If your motor has them, they were switched. The other possibility is that they are 71 Boss 351 heads. As far as bragging rights, I'd think the original heads are more desirable than the lower compression 72/73 heads. The only other motors to get the "Cobra-Jet" moniker during that era were the 428 FE and the 385 series 429.
