Thanks for the help...it does have eight bolts and I found the where the numbers are by the stater, just too much gunk to read it...once I get it on the lift I can remove the starter and clean it up so I can read the numbers...by the way, where are the freeze plugs on the block?

They are along the sides in the same place as a standard 302 except the Boss has screw-in plugs, not pressed plugs.
