Default engine rebuild

I am thinking of rebuilding my 289. How much should I expect to pay to have it done right?

Default RE: engine rebuild

I usually spend between $500 and $1000 on machinework, depending on what needs done. I always balance my engines, I recommend you do too.

You can get a rebuild kit rather cheap, at Summit you can get one. FEM-CSMHP729-311 $419.95 Jegs has em too. A shortblock 302 or 5.0 is available, but you wont have the original block, if you do now, and you cant pick what parts you get in it. You just get what they put in.

You may also want a different cam, or need one if yours is flat. I would recomend a kit that has the chain, springs, lifters, with the cam.

Figure about $1500-$2500 for a decent rebuild.
