Value of 65 GT Vert
Just curious what a 65 GT Vert is worth. Well, I'm assuming its called a GT as it has the 289 with 3spd manual in it. I am a 79+ guy so pardon the ingnorance
This car is a friends dad, and I have a feeling he may look to sell down the road and I think it would be nice to have it for my wife. I consider the car a 10 footer - meaning it looks good from 10 feet. No rust that I can tell, just a lot of blemishes in the paint, fit & finish. IMO it needs totally restored for a SHOW CAR type quality, which is what my ****-retentive self would have to do if I bought it. It runs decent, and appears to have been half-a$$ restored by somebody about 10-15 years ago. Sorry, no pics at this time.
Whats a car like this in mediocre (at best) condition worth? Any input would be apprectiated.

Well, first of all it is not a GT. It's just a plain Jane 65 289 vert. From your description, it sounds like about 10 grand to get it back to top notch condition so don't expect the finished product to be in the 20 grand range for a selling price.
ORIGINAL: Soaring

if its not restored and in poor condition (rust included) it really isnt worth to much becasue its nothing special, a GT still in crappy cond. will only bring u 3-6. 10K for an unrestored is way to high
I shopped hard here (Minn) for two years, checking classifieds every week, going to shows, and two classic car auctions. Restored or very good originals in 65 and 66 V8 verts are $17m to $21, sometimes more, rarely less. Subtract 25 percent for an I6 like mine...paid 12m (solid body with no rust, good-not-great recent paint; could have been 14m but needed clutch, front brakes, tires, and minor electrical). Need some easy stuff next year to finish off pony interior (carpets, interior door panels, kick panels, seat belts, steering wheel). I think it's a better than average #3 car, looks good driving. Just my observations.
