Default RE: Braking distance

ok so the sec^2 is seconds squared? I don’t understand that part if max holding is a decrease of 32 feet per second why square the equation and what part? 32^2 is 1,024 so that cant be right. Or is it simply implying that its a constant of 32 fps decrease per second every second (that’s what it must be!!).

SO if that’s the case and we work it in FPS that’s....9.8m/s^2 to-------> 32fps^2

60 mph =88 fps
88fps /32fps decrease =2.75 sec to stop
No idea about G force but .6 increase feels about right.

I know that is physically possible and would be equal to about 760 horse power worth of brakes on a 2800lb vehicle.

My Porsche 944 has like 12" rotors all the way around and is rated at 720hp braking

My mustang used to have 4 wheel drums and I know it wouldn’t stop as fast as the Porsche even though I could get the wheels to skid and the Porsche is probably 200+lbs heaver.
I’m not smart enough to figure out why, if both vehicles can lock the wheels up why don’t they stop at the same speed? The formula thingy above seems to suggest that they should.

I had some issues with the caliper on the right side of the mustang. It has been replaced and all new pads have been added once the wear in I plan to test them to adjust the distribution valve somewhere during this process Ill see how it stacks up to the Porsche.
