289 "k" code heads
Could someone explain what characteristics/features 289 "k" code heads have that make them a wanted part other then for someone who has a "k" code car? What makes them better?
the heads themselves arent any different from 289 2v and 4v engines heads, what makes them so different is that they have solid lifters instead of hydralic, and im not 100% sure but i think the valves were enlarged, but i should be corrected. But no the heads themselves are not any different than other 289 heads, many restorers will look for correct date coded heads, but those are very very hard to come by
Thanks for the replies. So really, there isnt anything about them that you couldnt duplicate with a non-"k" code set of heads? Reason I ask is, I once looked at buying a mustang that had a 302 but had "k" code heads, and that engine really sounded good and mean. I am having a 302 rebuilt and was wondering if there would be any advantage to having "k" code heads. But would there be any difference (performance wise) if I have the 302 heads installed with solid lifters and larger intake valves?
you found a great rarre deal, dude..the K heads are the BEST Ford head out there, beats ALL the rest cold!! It's even beter than a lot of modern heads!! Don't change those heads n keep it runnin lean and mean!!
