The 289, 302 and 351 all use the same block. I think the 260 is a one off..

WRONG! 289 and 302 share a common bore, and can be used interchangably, but there are minor differences. The 351W is totally different. Don't spread incorrect knowledge. It doesn't help anybody.

Well, well. Whadya know...
You can all of a sudden type and spell dramatically better than you have been.
Interesting...

But unfortunately, you're now coming off more as a jerk rather than a 9 year old.
Maybe you should come up with a third online persona for when you want to actually contribute.

so 260, 289, 302 are all the same? if they only had different heads how could that increase displacement?

I know for a fact the 351 is its own entity.

The displacement is changed by the bore and/or stroke. The 260 has a bore and stroke of 3.80x2.87. The 289 has a bore and stroke of 4.00x2.87. The 302 has a bore and stroke of 4.00x3.00. There is another engine in the family that was actually the first in the line. It is the 221 that was built in '62 & '63. It's bore and stroke is 3.500x2.87.

ahhh yes ive heard of the 221 as well i believe.

so is this anything special or not really? i could drive up to santa rosa but dont want to spend 2000 on a car because of an undersized engine that "could" be something special...the tranny probably isnt anything too special either...ford 3spd is pretty standard back then i believe correct?

Yeah, That was actually the Standard transmission put in these cars. If you got an automatic in your old mustang, it was an option, that somebody paid extra for.

yeah...just like the mustangs today.

id personally pay more for a manual though....funny how things change eh?

i dont want to have to switch over to a manual tranny as it sounds costly and hard but i guess if its for a more quality car its worth it....

was the 4 speed manual upgrade a higher upgrade than an automatic or below it?
