I think the value in the car would be for someone that wanted a early mustang sometimes called a 64 and a half. For any performance mods dump the 260 and get a 289
its the same block as the 289....i think the 289's stroke is just longer....but doing that would defeat the purpose of dealing with this pretty beat down car to bring it back with some originality.
at that point i think its probably a better idea to just get a 289 with less work needed...?
Agreed. If performance isnt in the future at all then Id say go for it. It would atleast be different than most of the other mustangs out there. I atleast have never seen one in person with a 260.
Most sources I have read don't recommend boring them out to 4' there is a good chance of hitting the water jacket. Aslo these engines had a 5 bolt bellhousing I dont know how this would affect transmission choices.
Well if you do get the 260, be prepared to be asked "what engine is it?". And when you tell them its a 260, they'll say, "oooohhh its a v6". Yep, can get pretty annoying at times.
