Default engine too heavy

I just got my remanufactured 351W long block in today...problem is when I picked it up they just loaded it into my truck bed wrapped in plastic. The problem is that I can't get it out of my truck cause it is too heavy. Anybody have an idea how to lift the engine out with out buying a engine hoist (my wife won't let me get it cause our garage isn't big enough). I can get a friend to help me lift it out, but if there is an easier way than trying to man handle it to the ground let me know.

I think you can rent one from Murray's or some place that does tool rental/ equipment rental, no?

before i bought my engine hoist i had rented one to do some work. it only cost about $40 for the day. that seems to be the only way to move it without damaging your new motor.

How are you going to install it in the car without a hoist?

If you are paying someone to finish it off and install it...why not take it direct to them and have them lift it out and store it?

I'll check out rental places in Augusta, thanks. I'm going to keep the engine in my garage until I have all the parts I need for the engine rebuild, including new radiator, hoses, etc. and then take it to the auto shop on the army post where I'm stationed.

Yeah, So how much did you think that engine was going to weigh? You might as well rent/ buy a hoist. I have one, and it hardly takes up any room. The legs fold up, and stick it in the cornor, and you'lll never know it's there. Mine wasn't too expensive either.

Yeah, I think I'll just buy the hoist and not tell my wife...she'll be mad for a day or too, then I'll bring home some flowers

Yeah, GREAT idea. Those things are dead useful, you can find ways to use them for other things.
