I made my own overhead console to house a CD player. The original AM is still in the dash, and no one really thinks to look up (in a 65/66). It's as good as hidden.

I know, I love his console. I remember telling him a long time ago, that he can make me one if he wanted too.

I made the arch section out of aluminum strips. I bent them too curved (on purpose) so that they would have a lot of tension once mounted. That way, they hug the slight curve of the roof. The console is only attached at the rear view mirrow location and at the back window. Had to drill a couple new holes, but it seemed worth it to me. It's good and sturdy - not about to let go or anything.

As for making more of these - that would mean taking this one back down for measurements. No thanks!!!

Y' think? Hmmm... Lemme do the math...

Working on and off for a couple hours each evening for a few weeks; slicing a major artery in my thumb with tin snips; nearly putting out an eye with flying jigsaw blades; hot glue scalds on my hands; and a pinched nerve in my neck while installing it... And I might sell them for a couple hundred dollars each. That comes out to a couple dollars an hour (not counting medical expenses).

Yep - sounds like early retirement for me![:@]

Thats why you try to kill yourself one last time getting measurements and drafting up a diagram for the thing then hire young kids just outta high school to cut their hands up. You would make a serious killing selling those things. Maybe contact a fabrication company of some sort with pictures of your idea, patent office etc etc. Thats a very nice overhead and Im sure lots of people would buy it.

I think what Im going to do is get a set of kickpanels with speakers for the front, get that underdash mounting kit, with a deck that fits my wants and then I don't know about the rear. I really like my trunk space...so I dont think I'd get a set of subs back there.

if i had some measurements i could easily make one and do it fairly cheap too. or even better a cardboard cut of the arc of the roof. if anyone wants one i could do it if i had that stuff.
