Default please help...city problem

I've had my 67 mustang covered in the back yard for about 3 months and just recieved a residential notice saying that I cant have my car there. The notice says the vehicle cannot be stored in yard and a print out of the rules was added which states...

storage sale and repair prohibited

The storage of merchandise, sale of motor vehicles, storage of inoperable vehicles, or repair of vehicles are prohibited in required off street parking lots or areas.

I was wondering if any of you have had this situation and how you handled it? I mean its my property and I honestly dont see how the city can tell me what I can park in my back yard especially when it is covered and there is a fence around it! If any of you have knowlegde with this sort of thing please reply.

wow, um...i was wondering a similar question, like can I rent a mini-warehouse or garage to store it for more space and protectiong from the elements. But for you, I guess it depends, if your fence is chain-linked and the yard is visible from the street, they might have you there. But if its the backyard and no one can really see it witout like hopping the fence, then wtf? Besides, since when is a backyard a required off-street parking area?

Sounds like you have a neighbor that doesn't like the car there.

How hard would it be to get the engine to run and the car to roll fowards/backwards?

Then it would be Parked not stored and in running order.

^^^ good idea and point. if you can get it running like ASAP it might help, but because your are repairing/rebuilding it that still counts against you. If you fence is not a see through one and you have a lot of privacy, then i would fight back otherwise, start looking for a Storage Facility of some type.

wow that really sucks. i would find out if one of those carport/tent garage things would save you. seems to be the cheapest way out if it would help.
good luck
