Default HydroBoost??

Hi all---Im working on modernizing my 68 coupe and need some advice as far as brakes go--Id like to put a modern cobra or GT master cylinder with a hydrobooster into my car for a four-wheel disc setup-however, i am not totally sure how the hydrobooster works---is it the same principal as a vaccuum booster only with fluid---with a seperate pump--i just need some clarification--thanks!!

A hydraboost bolts to the firewall in place of the vacuum booster. It uses the power steering pump as a source of hydraulic power. They work great but you need to have power steering or run a power steering pump. The lead tech in my shop stuffed a 460 into a Fox body mini LTD and had to install a hydraboost to make room for the big motor. It's a nice conversion and you don't have to worry about low vacuum associated with running a big cam.

So basically, I could just run a pump to the booster--excellent----Could I run a hydroelectric pump, since my car wont have power steering and I dont want to draw extra power from the motor through the belts??

I don't see why not as long as the output is similar to a factory pump.
