New fluid: use a funnel through the dipstick tube. To drain: Drains through the pan.....loosen one corner first to let it drain. Don't forget to inspect the pan for metal shavings that could mean problems.
You do not need to remove the entire pan, just one corner, let it drain and inspect for any metal shavings from the fluid drained. If you are having any shifting problems, (slow) then it is worth your time to drop the entire pan, there will be a metal screen fitted with a few small bolts, drop the screen and replace, this is your trani filter, inspect it also for any metal shavings. If you have never dropped a trani pan be careful when you retorque the trani pan bolts, too much will bend the pan flange and you will create your own leaks. Once you drop the pan, inspects it for bends as someone else may have re-torqued it too much and bent it.
Good luck,
Good luck,
I suggest taking the pan completely off and clean the filter. Also, before you put the pan back on, get a B&M drain plug so it will be much easier to change the fluid in the future. http://www.bmracing.com/media/catalog/9.pdf
Now, to get all the fluid out, you will also need to drain the converter. The easiest way to do that is to put the clean pan back on with a new gasket, then put in 4 quarts of Type F Fluid through the dip stick tube. Then, unhook the tranny cooler tube, and get a small hose that just fits over the cooler tube, and clamp it with a hose clamp. Get a milk jug or some other jug, and put the hose in it. Get someone to help you. They will need to watch the tube as the fluid goes into the jug. Start the engine and put it in gear. When the fluid quits running into the jug, stop the engine. Put 4 more quarts in the pan and repeat the process. You will use 20 or so quarts of Type F fluid to completely drain all the old fluid out of the system this way, but if you only add the 12 quarts and not get the fluid out of the converter, you will still have dirty fluid. Not as dirty as before, but still dirty.

Type F fluid is that special kind of fluid ?
I went to the autoshop today and bought plain ol' automatic transmission fluid thats used for modern cars ... won't that work as well?
