i would put an alarm in and stick an underdash cd player. just keep the original locks just in case. not much modifying, but at least you wont have to rip up the dash.

You can put it in the glove box, you can put it in the trunk and run it remotely. I have seen guys do some incredible stuff with remote displays etc. It's certainly doable and you don't have to modify the car in anyway other than the wires.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I was thinking about putting it in the trunk.

Thanks guys, this gives me a little more courage to do the two.

Just consider it an opportunity to be creative. You will enjoy it in the end. Tons of information on the net. When you get done, shoot me an email if you want to write it up and I will post it on my site.

you dont have to mess with the door locks for a car alarm. I had a car alarm installed and it triggers when the dome light goes on (i.e. the door opens). I also had a switch installed that would trigger the alarm if the hood was opened.

Keep it totally original. Get a boom box from WallyWorld that plugs into the cigarette lighter hole, and put it on the passenger side floor. If you want a modern car with all the great stereo capabilities, then get one and leave the vintage mustang as it was manufactured.

I would be reluctant to modify a unmolested car. If I were you I would leave it original as can be. Thats just my opinion. The true originals get harder to find everyday.
