Default Originality Conundrum

Ok, I have a '66 Mustang and it's entirely original.

Now, here is the conundrum I face... Seeing as how it's entirely original, I'm kind of reluctant to make any...modernized changes to it... (IE: stereo system or car alarm)

Is it a good idea to install a car alarm (which will replace the original door locks, in which they also have to take the door apart), or even a concealed stereo system? My Mustang has the old AM radio (w00t! I get channel 5 - full facial!).

Would anyone here track me down and smack the taste out of my mouth for making such a change to a Mustang like that?

No, I got a bad a$$ stereo, and if i had the money would put an alarm in, and my 66 is as original as they come too. Theres so many mustangs out there, it doesn't really matter what you do to it, IMO.

I wouldnt do any crazy restomod stuff to the car but i think that an alarm system and a concealed stereo would be fine. In fact i would probably do the same thing.

im a fan of car alarms, especially the kind that give you the little remote that buzzes or dings or explodes or something when your alarm is going off. Now thats good auto-theft prevention.

I think it would be a good idea to install both. A little bit of change never hurts.

Look at it this way....consider it a challenge to find a way to install the stereo and keep the stock look. When you do it, it's a good feeling because you don't feel like you compromised the car and you still get to enjoy the stereo.

Soley depends on what you want as the final product?

A 100% original pony or a modified 66?
Do you plan on keeping it forever? Passing it down to someone else?
Or do you want to enjoy the car as you see fit, your choice?

I plan on keeping it as long as possible... Passing it down? Neh - MY CAR!
I want to enjoy it as I see fit, but then again..., ya know..., it's just so hard to alter such a beautiful thing...
