Default Rain problem...

Every time it rains over night, the next morning my car acts like it doesn't wanna crank up like it normally does. My cars a daily driver, and it usually runs great every day, but when it rains it acts up. Do any of you know whats causing this? Moisture in the dist. cap? Thanks

That was my first thought Dan. Next time, pop the cap and see if there is some moisture in there. Either wipe it out with a cloth, or use your air compressor to blow it dry.

Thanks bryan, and thanks to everyone else for the replies. I thought that was the problem, I just wasn't sure.

if you still have points and a condenser, consider replacing them with a pertronix kit

My car is also a DD and moisture has never prevented my car from running since I've had the pertronix...the basic one only costs about $60 and that's the one i'm using

Yea, I've been wanting to upgrade to an electronic kit for a while.

The pertronix my help some, but the problem usually isn't with water on the points, it's water on the contact points on the underside of the dizzy cap that usually causes the misfiring. You still use a rotor with the pertronix module. I think I would smear a very thin coating of clear silicone around the dizzy where the plug wires go into the top. Then smear a thin coating on the lip of the cap where it makes contact (clamps down) to the dizzy and let it dry before putting the cap back on. I know this may sound like shade tree stuff, but it might work to help keep the moisture out.

Gee, give me a break here, I'm in college.... I have a cover but some times I just forget about it.
