So my friend has a 69 351W and iam gunna do a swap this winter. If i can get this engine will my stock 302 exhaust manifolds work?? I am on a budget and i dont know if that taller deck is going to throw things out enough to make it not work. Also, what other roadblocks might i run into?? I have a 302 and a C4 tranny.Its a 68 coupe.

 

i don't know about the manifolds, but the 351 should drop right in exactly how the 302 was......just a little tighter fit

 

C4 isnt a prob I can tell you that, my 69 parts car was originally a 302 swapped to a 351W, so i can say that the C4 will fit but for the exhaust, i think you need new ones, all the parts catalogs ive looked at give the 302 different part numbers from the 351W. As for anything else, i cant be sure but some other members here have done similar swaps so watch for their advice.

 

Ya it will fit, that is what I am putting in my 66 coupe. It also has a C-4 tranny but I am looking at a FMX to put in it.

 

66fordman...I think on the 65-66 mustangs you have to modify the shock towers...have you looked into that???

 

Didnt have to modify any sheetmetal when we dropped a 351W into a 66, and added a toploader behind it in an automatic car. We had two, one wrecked and rusty, the other better body but 289 C4. Fit great but wwe used headers on it. Sunnit has cheap ones, for less than $100, look into it..
