Default 14" or 15" rims

Hi all, My 69 fastback currently has 14" slotted mags with BFG T/A's mounted
on them. (see gallery) These do not have any clearcoat on them and oxidize very fast, like a week after I polish them. I have been cruising the web looking for a new set with a nice polished finish and clearcoat. I have seen them in only 15" sizes minimum. My other dream wheels are the American Racing Torque Thrusts with the gray spokes, aka
" bullit " rims. These come in 14" sizes. Do I run into any issues just by bolting on 15" rims and tires besides the speedo not being accurate? I still have several months before I can drive it on these salted roads. I have 4 wheel drum brakes if that makes a difference.
Thanks.

as for running a bigger rim, the only concern is braking since the little bit larger rim has a little more mass to stop, not a big deal. as for the speedo, when you put the 15inch rims on it, you'll get tires with a lower profile, which should match close to the 14s circumference, inturn now really affecting the speedo

Use this little calc to see what you need for a new tire compared to what you are running now.

(Yeah, its from Miata, I found it using a tire calc search a long time ago.....)

Step up to the 15s. I just put a set on my '66 a couple months ago and am very pleased. They fill up the wheel well much better. Much more visually appealing...

Thanks, Nicolas.

They're 215/60/15 BFGs on all four corners (on 15x7 wheels). No clearance problems except in severe dips. I hear the backs touch every now and then. I'll probably roll the rears...

those do look good. I can't get used to the 17" and larger on the classic cars. Personally, I don't like the low profile look, the more side wall the better.......
I also like the torque thrust wheels with the gray. Yours fill the well real nice. I am going
to check into which cars came with 14 and which came with 15"

Here are my 14's. I could go 15's, but why? The car came with 14's. There is a reason for that.[sm=bling.gif]
