14" or 15" rims
ORIGINAL: Soaring
...I could go 15's, but why? The car came with 14's. There is a reason for that.

Shelby himself chose to upgrade to 15s on his cars...
I'll bet you're still running points too, aren't 'cha?![sm=dontgetit.gif]
I dont know, I dont like overly large on the classics but 14 is one inch away from my metro tires and 2 from a donut...how wide of a tire can you squeeze in the back without problems?
The Torque Thrust line is without a doubt a great looking wheel. I also like the Magnum 500's as well as the original style "pony" wheels. However, when it comes to size it does make a difference. I opted to put the original 14 inch wheels back on my restoration as seen below. I did so because these are the wheels the car had on it new and since I was restoring the car to as new, that's what I thought I should do. BUT... I have to admit that it is darned hard to beat the look of a 15 inch wheel and tire in en early pony wheelwell. The 14's on my car look kind of anemic and I have considered changing them to Magnums and 15 inch. I just can't bring myself to do it.
The bottom line is that it's your car. Do what YOU think is best. It's a bolt on item so you aren't butchering the car and it's a simple fix to change it back to the way Henrys' folks designed it. One last consideration... The 14 inch wheel and tire has less "rollout" than many of the larger sizes. This will effect the speedometer to varying degrees but it will also effect low end performance. Since the rear end will remain unchanged the car will launch as if it has a different gear ratio when mashed hard from a slow speed. Just a thought. Dean

Believe it or not... they are genuine Ford. They were used on the 73 only. The quickest way to spot a genuine Ford wheel is the 1/4 inch wide groove around the outer lip and it is painted black inside the groove. They are also 14 X 6 inch in size. Kind of a skinny wheel for most people. You'll also find a Ford oval on the back of the spokes if you remove the wheel. If they are Ford and if they aren't beat up bad, they bring as much as 100.00 each on ebay with the center caps. The original 73 only lug nuts for them bring 5.00 each or better. It's hard to believe, but the lug nuts are unique to this wheel only. They are longer than most so as to clear the center cap when changing a flat. They are indeed clearcoated. Good luck, Dean
