I need help please!
Orite, I got my Mustang back on Tuesday after it had been at the paint shop forever! Someone didn't disconnect the battery, so it went dead, no biggie. I got a new one and put it in (Diehard Gold series).
I drive the car a few times and everything is working as it should.
Today I start it up and it is running fine, later I got to start it again to drive it a little, and the battery is dead.[:@] Is there a chance that the battery was faulty? Or is something wrong with the alternator or something else?
I dunno what it is but it is really ruining my day.

Yeah a bad ground could stop it from charging.
Also when the battery is charged and the car is off you should get right about 12v if you start the car and rev the engine up to about 1300rpm you should get 13-14v if your still getting just 12v then the alternator maybe bad.

Wow, I found a few things out. 1st of all there was a wire that was disconnected on the alternator, I guess the screw vibrating off or something, so I get a new screw and washer, reconnect it get all happy, turn the key, same thing, doesn't start.
So I look at wires going from the cylanoid (or however you spell it) I notice a few wires, I think one is for the headlights, it is in good shape, the other wires, that I believe leads to the alternator is melted! so there is like this big mess of black tape and melted metal all over, how did I miss that?
So tomorrow I am going to attempt to splice the wires, it looks like it will work good b/c the stupid wires are already way too long, so I should be able to cut here and there, put them together tape it up and be back in bussiness, hopefully.
I am just gonna do this for now, if it doesn't work, then I dunno.
I am just hoping that these melted wires didn't damage anything, but I don't see how they could have.
Anyone have any other ideas?

HOLD ON A SEC buddy, Just because you reconnect the wire, doesn't make the battery charge up by itself. Charge up the battery, or jump it off. Let it run for awhile, a easy test, is to turn the headlights on, and rev the engine. See if they brighten and dim.
Geez, what a mess, I went to go splice them together and man, there are like stupid wires that were already spliced and stuff, it is a mess, a whole bunch of melted crap, so I hook it up the "right way" I thought anyways, and then the wires melted more.
O well, atleast I know it is a wiring problem, now I am just gonna save up some money to get a tow truck to tow it to my work to have a mechanic fix it, for now it sits with the battery disconnected.
I am pretty sure it will be a quick fix if a pro is doing the work, I just don't know how to do it myself, and I tried finding diagrams, I finally found one, but it was in black and white, that doesn't help me when I have pink/orange/black/yellow wires.[&:]
