Default 1967 resto question

Hello, I just got a 1967 coupe and I have a question about originality. I am trying to decide whether to keep it orginal or change it up some. It's nothing special, but here are the stats.

1967 Coupe, Burnt Amber with Saddle interior, Standard Interior, 289 2V, Automatic (but code says it should be a 3 spd.), A/C, power steering

I am either going to keep it original or convert it to look like a GTA with a 302 crate engine. The good about the car is it *appears* to have the original paint, although it needs a repaint and seems to have only surface rust. The floor pans and trunk all seem solid. It has had only two owners prior. I plan on doing a complete tear down and rebuild of the car. Any thoughts? Thanks for any advice!

Does the 289 need to be replaced? Is it original?

I say unless you plan to sell it soon after the resto, then do what you want with it. It's all about personalization.

I believe the engine is original. It will need a rebuild, of course. I am told it is original and never rebuilt. When I get a chance, I am going to check for codes stamped on the engine.

My opinion, drop in the crate. But you should build the car the way you want to. Just have fun with it.
