I am buying a 68 Mustang. It has a 289 v8 with dual exhaust auto tranny, gt hub caps, no fog lights in the grill, has coil over shocks on the rear mounted at an angle. What i would like to know is if it is a GT. What do i need to look for. I am getting a rebuilt 302 Boss to go with the car, never been in the car. I just don't know what to look for to tell if it is a GT. Either way i am still buying it, just am curious. Can anyone help? Thanks.

 

What does the VIN say? if its 289 its probably a C code.

The Gt's of that year came standard with front disc brakes, heavy-duty suspension, and i think fog lights in the grille.

The Boss series didnt start untill 1969, just in case you thought you wanted to keep it original
