Default looking for a project car possibly

let me just start off with, i love the classic stangs more than almost any other old school muscle car. im looking for a 66-70 fastback, or mach 1. heres my dilem though, i need one that runs pretty well, and is driveable (has floor pans and steering wheel etc) so would any of you think around 8 grand is about right for lets say a 67 fastback that runs? i know they are hard to find, and expensive as hell these days. also what year has the most potential for being really worth something 20 years down the road? just curious. thanks guys

Welcome to the classic section! I have been searching ebay, newspapers etc. for a 67 fastback that was in decent condition for about that price and I didnt find anything. I ended up finding my car (which is indeed a very big project) and decided to have fun with it which ofcourse costed me very little. You might have better luck finding a different year like a 65 or 66 for that amount im guessing. But if youre really a big fan of one year be prepared to dish out more cash.

For resale down the road a few years, look into the 65-66 Fastbacks. Now, we aren't talking Shelby's or GTA's or anything like that are we? If so, those would be very expensive right now, but they will just continue to gain in value. It would be kinda like buying gold. A good investment, but you can't spend it. Well, with the Shelby's etc, they will grow in value, but you basically can't drive them if you want them to retain their value. I have a coupe that has more than tripled in value over the years, but have had to put a lot of work and money into it to make sure it retains its' value.
If I were looking for a project car that will not cost me an arm and a leg right now, but will continue to gain in value, I would look for a 65-66 fastback or convertible.

heh definetly not a gt500 or anything, i want to be able to eat and sleep. i also want to drive whichever year i go with. i definetly want a fastback though, coupes are nice but i love the fastbacks. i guess a 65-66 fastback would be just as good as the later ones, but i was worried those would be harder to find and be more expensive. thanks guys
