Default Is the windshield glued into a 69 Mustang?

I'm going to have a windshield put in my 69 Fastback and the guy at the windshield shop said it's much cheaper if it's glued in... Any idea?

Thanks
David

Are you saying the repairman suggested gluing in a new windshield, or repairing the old one? Windshield replacement is a bit expensive that is why most car owners prefer to have windshield repair instead. Windshield repair nowadays uses modern technology to restore the appearance and efficiency of the windshield. A special type of adhesive resin is employed together with new tools to repair the defect and bring back the clarity of the component. Further cracking and breaking are also minimized to prevent interference with the driver’s vision of the road ahead. But, if you are talking about putting in a whole new windshield, then I have no idea why he would suggest it would be cheaper to glue them in. They have to use a sealer anyway.......

He doenst want to mess with the rubber gasket that goes around the windshield on the older cars. He wants to use eurethane to hold it in. As long as he can make the window trim cover the gaps, and not fly off while in motion, it works better than the factory gasket. Using the gasket is kinda tedious fitting the windshield into it. I always used a string so I could pull the rubber up and over the glass. Im not sure when Ford switched to eurethane or straight adhesive/sealant with no gasket. My 71 is all eurethane.

Don't do it!!! Use the rubber seal. It wont look right and it wont fit right. Also the crome trim will look like crap..

Just my 2 cents, Cheers.....[sm=icon_cheers.gif]

Heck I thought a 69 was glued in from the factory. Is anybody sure that it is not? I don't know why anyone would avoid the gasket, they are so easy to work with. They guy at the glass shop quoted me 135 for a new windshield for my 67. 95 if I put it in myself. Not that expensive.

I'm thinking the first year of glue in was 69 but I never owned one either.
