Default ENGINE PROBLEM

Well,it all started when i was on the freeway. i was driving 65 most of the way the for about 5 min. i was doing 100-125mph. everything sounded fine. by the time i got home i popped the hood open and i noticed that some oil spilled all over the drivers side of the motor. im pretty sure it was transmition fluid because i notice that the cap was locked but it wasnt air tight shut. is this normal ?

These two items are not normal:

1) Driving 100-125 for about 5 minutes
2) oil all over the driver's side of motor.

Keep it to 65 and hopefully the oil won't blow all over your engine.

well oil coming out from the driver side of the motor, prolly mean that the oil fill cap might have wiggled loose under your flight(which is crazy man you really need to slow the hell down) Altough not to common for this to happen, its also not too common to drive 100-125mph in any condition. I say, wipe the oil off the motor, and keep it under 65. (damn kids with there hot rods these days[:@])

It should be easy to tell the difference between trans fluid and oil. Do you know which it was?

Ok what is with the lectures about going over 100? I drive the california freeways where the normal speed is 80. Going over 100 is normal passing speed. I'm not sure feeback on driving habits is the feedback this person was looking for.

Yes, it is too fast. You can kill yourself if you want to, but don't endanger the lives of others.

I live in rural north texas where it is flat and empty, so 120 is only cruising speed.

What year Mustang? Isn't the auto fill tube on the passenger side of the motor?

Where on the drivers side of the motor do you see oil? Near the oil filter, below the valve covers, on the timing chain cover, behind the intake manifold, etc.?

How large is the oil patch?

I grew up in Rural North Texas ( Aubrey - live in CO now ) and 120 in a vintage Mustang would have been insane on the hilly / windy highways. Here, it's all retirement folk so ya have to go BELOW posted limits! lol
