Default how to go about building a awsome 302

ive been pondering on what engine i should be putting into my little ol 66 coupe i know i wanted 400 hp and around 350 torque at the flywheels so it was between the 302 and the 351 clevor and I thought i had it down to the 351W with 351C heads but i started to read more into it and started to learn about all the special headers intakes and such needed just to make it fit and of course those pieces aren't gunna come cheap so i went back to a 302 and learning that u can bore it out to 347 not sure what kinda power it can make just yet i was hoping you all could help me. I need to know how to make a bad *** 302 is it the best if i get 351c heads and make a 302 boss or just build it with other performance parts ive gotta think savy because theres also a lot of other things that i want to do to my gal. So ya any imput on this would be greatly appreciated im sure theres a few guys out there with some impressive 302s oh y and im not planning on supercharging and i don't know if u can turbo it.

I have a fresh 347 shortblock for sale. Eagle rods, crank, 11.1 comp, trick flow hyd roller cam. 2K. Also have a set of ported Canfield Aluminum heads with rockers for $1100. This combo would make you a very strong running combo.

You can stroke it to 347 and it will make alot of torque compared to a 302, and to do it yourself would cost you right around the $2k that hutchamatic wants for his. If you want to keep it inexpensive you can also build the 302 and add some good heads, decent cam, intake, headers, stall (if automatic) and gears. What parts to go with depends on a few variables, such as just how much power or how fast you want to go, what transmission the car has now, how much it weighs, how much daily driving you want to do, and what you are willing to deal with as far as driveability and special instructions regarding driving, starting, maintence and operation..

So how fast you want to go and what would be a viable budget for you to build an engine over the next three months?
Then just post up what trans you have and what you are willing to deal with, high performance cars have issues, they arent always the most comfortable, and usually the small engined cars have more issues with traffic than the large engines do. Be specific and we can help you..

well right now its a stock 66 coupe 289 with auto the hole cruise-o-matic setup stock dif with 17" TT2s its my everyday driver but i live in a smaller town in canada no trafic lots of wide open straight roads im not planning on striping it down and making it ful out racing but ive got granada swap, shelby drop, 1 inch sway bar, kby shocks, and 620 springs ready to go in the front and in the back 3/4" sway bar and kby shocks also waiting to go in. planning getting a 5 speed manual in when i switch over engines and probably find a 9 inch with disc for the rear ( dunno about gearing still learning on how they work and such) it has power steering power breaks waiting to go in. so im looking for something that can put out around 400 hp and 350 torque gotta take advantage of those long roads, and the faster the better. as for the money im 18 and now that i have the car i don;t have a life to spend money on so every month i figure i pull in 1500 for the car. hutchamatic im def interested in that engine send some pics and such and im guessing that 1100 is american.

That 1100 was for a pair of heads. He wants 2000 for the engine. I think.

I am selling it for a friend. He has run out of money. He dosen't have the money to buy heads for it or get it put in the car. He misjudged several things about his whole situation. The heads are from another friend that just quit racing.
