I am putting new rings on the 351 cleveland pistons. But have found something I am not familiar with. Thecompression rings went on fine. But the oil rings have anywhere from half to one inch gap between ring ends. Is this normal? The two sets of rings came with the car when I purchased it. Both sets are complete, but the boxes the rings came in say ----70 mustang 351. I have a 71 351 cleveland. Was there a difference in the 351c and 351 w?

i dont know if this will help but the bore on the clevland ond the windsor are identical. And allso the rings willhave gaps in them, just ensure that all the gaps dont line up.

stay with the proper ring end gap for all the rings, top ring 10 to 20 thou, second ring 10 to 20 thou, oil ring 15 to 69 thou, and off set the rings 1/3

When you compress them they shouldn't have but a very little gap
