Holley or Edelbrock

I like the Holley just because I have worked on so many and I'm familiar with them. I have never worked on the edelbrock. Go with what you know I guess.

I never had to work on an EDL other than changing rods and jets.
I would go with teh Edelbrock manifold, Performer RPM or Victor Jr. depending on engine modifications & hood clearance, that's what they've always been famous for. As for the carb, I would go with either a Holley or a Demon. I think Edelbrock carbs are junk. As for carb size, again it is dependent on engine mods. 650 cfm at most or 500 cfm for stock engine. Good luck.
At one time or another I have run both carbs, I have been happy with both. What I am looking at now is the price difference between the Edelbrock and the Holley, I have a hard time paying the extra hundred bucks or so for the Holley when (to me) the performance of either is so close.
So far I have been able to run both of these carbs "out of the box", (more or less) with very few issues. I put an edelbrock on my sons truck, due to price considerations, and due to the fact that my 17 year old will have no idea how to adjust this carb, and to boot, hewillprobably wonteven know when it needs adjustment.
The idea of him emulating meadjusting or tuning his carburator does not thrill me, so the less he sees me doing this the better.

I like Briggs and Stratton carbs. The only thing you really have to replace with a kit is the diaphragm.
