65 or 66 would be the cheapest and easiest. Parts are more readily availible for those. As far as finding a cheap one that is hit or miss.

Yeah, I agree the '65's and '66's have the highest availability of parts. So many were built and they are so popular to restore. Coupes are the cheapest as they abound. Fastbacks and convertibles command the highest prices. But all are climbing as the supply dwindles.

Yeah, I think it is pretty widespread knowledge among us classic guys that the 65-66 coupe is the cheapest to buy and to restore. However, they are also climbing in worth during the past few years. My old 65 coupe is worth more now than what I paid for it a few years ago. But, as mentioned, the fastbacks and verts are climbing faster.

Cheapest to buy would be the 71-73, at least in my experience. Not so cheap to restore, but you can still find them for little $$$.

Best investment, well that is something altogether different. V8 powered fastbacks that dont have rust issues seem to be the best investment, next would be convertables, most verts have floorpan issues from rust, and often a trashed interior.

If you can find an early coupe, they are very easy to work on, and you can almost build an entire car from mail order. Not many parts of the 65-66 not reproduced.
