WOW

Sounds like a great setup. I may be getting over my head in the budget area. I would like to only do a engine rebuild once but I don't want to wait on the money to achieve a setup like rgormansouth has (although I would love for you to describe it in detail). Maybe one day I can build it. I might just have to save up my pennies.

I'm wanting to do a decent restomod by replacing the suspension, minor body work, paint, interior, engine rebuild, etc. and it will take a while (money). I am hoping to be able to do alot of the work myself and just get help when needed. I would like to be able to drive it during the process if possible and that was my thought process on just minor engine mods (keep budget in check and be able to do more intense mods later).

Good day, not a prolblem on engine spec I will put a list together shortly and post it. I must say even though I have built a few motors over the years, this one in perticular was put together by Joe Griffen, Washington NC. I think anyone into offshore racing, Fountain Racing boats should be famaliar with his name. I was amazed walking around his shop, all these blown big blocks everywhere. You can buy a house for what one of those motors go for. Yet he had no prolblem helping me out with my combination, it was still alot of money to me, not worth much to him for what he normally works on. Anyway I will put build sheet together and post.

OK guys, I'm going to have to rebuild the 351W during the restomod process in my 65 Fastback. I'm debating on wether to do a standard rebuild or a light mod during the rebuild (i.e. Cam, Carb - budget mod rebuild).

The restomod will be a slow process as I'm expecting it to take about 3-4 years (time and money). I would like to get it in driving condition as fast as possible though. Right know the car is in pieces (thanks to my brother-in-law). He started a restore and took the car apart and then stopped. So I'm the lucky guy that gets to try and find all the pieces. [:@]

I was thinking about a carb and cam and then later doing other mods to the engine for performance. What would you guys recommend? What parts would you use? Is there something more usefull for performance than a cam and carb?

Any help would be great.

Thanks,
pwhit
One thing you might want to think about is engine bay space. The 351 will definitely fit but it takes more work than a 302 or 289. Not trying to discourage you at all...as always I encourage everyone to do what they want....just trying to point somethings out that you need to consider. Do a search on here and on google about putting 351s into the 65-66 body. There are some "pains" associated with it but it can be done.

Ask yourself what your goals are for the car....what are your horsepower goals. I think the quote goes... "Speed cost money...how fast do you want to go"

I'm doing the 351 because that's what is in the car now (well it's already been pulled). I believe that I want to stick with the 351. It fits more of what I'm looking for. I would like between 350 to 400 HP and about the same in TQ. I have come to the conclusion that I have alot of work ahead of me and that I might as well build the engine right and the way I want it the first time and not have to mess with it again.

The quote goes "Speed is just a question of money. How fast do you want to go?". Its from the original MAd Max movie. And wouldn't you know, Max has a modified falcon. He's a ford man.

I say pull out the stops and stroke that thing up to 408 and hold on!
