so for new ignition all thats needed is a new coil and distributor basically...dont need to get into this stuff...?

thats just if you want to get a notch better performance and isnt really necessary?

Exactly. I added one on my truck a long time ago and it didnt even do anything, so I could tell. I put a new one on years later after a cam, exhaust, rockers,chip, pullies,etc and noticed a big difference. If you're looking just to freshen it up or get it running, you won't need any of that.
