Which one
Ohh and I drove my friends mustang GT but I never used the nitrous cause he wouldn't let me[:@]. But can anybody else answer my questions. How much hirsepower would it take to make a daily driver run 10's or 11's. Remember of course that I have never been to a drag strip so I don't really know how fast that would be but I no the competition will be running something around 12's I think so I would like to be able to beat them.
My 65 mustang which weighs less than 3000lbs has 400 RWHP and has run a best so far of 12.5 on radials.
I expect it to see high elevens this springs.
Here is a once-was-updated- regular spread sheet of costs. If you look close, I have not done anything too exotic to the car. I put a new suspension on it so it would handle decent, I put disc Brakes on it so it would stop repeatidly with roughly the same effectiveness, the motor with a trans and rear to support the power level so they wouldn't break (which the trans did anyway), and tire/wheels so that I could at least make an attempt to get some of the power to the ground in street trim.

This is an all motor car. You don't need a 460 to run 11s though. Many people are building 13 second motors and then using laughing gas when they are at the strip to hit into the 11s. You also need to remember if you go too deep into 11s at the track you also have to spend a good chunk of your budget on safety equipment ABOVE and BEYOND the money you have to spend on base line safety equipement in the car just to run at all.
When you want a street car that you also drag race you have to make certain trade offs and the majority of those are in suspension setups. A 400 RWHP car easily gets deep into the 11s at the 3000lb point, but I'll never get there because I am not running a strip suspesion. If you put an all drag suspension on your car, it is virtually impossible (IMO) to drive it as adaily drive car.

WOW, I'm seeing all the post's about insurance costs and I can't believe some of the yearly costs. You all must be under 25 years old because I only pay $160 a year with full coverage and replacement cost of $15,000.. [sm=dontgetit.gif]
