Sway bars?
So my next project is suspension and steering rebuild. I bought the car (67 289 convt) last month from an older guy who owned it since 1974 and claimed he never even replaced the shocks, never mind springs, control arms, tie rod ends, etc...anyways, it is loose and jumps on uneven roads like crazy. If I upgrade to better shocks and stiffer springs, control arms, tie rod ends, do I really need sway bars too? I do not plan on racing or driving it too fast, its more of a cruiser for me. I want a better, more even ride, but doesn't need to be racing style. What do front and rear sway bars offer someone like me?
There are a lot of sites that have a complete kit. You can save some $ by getting the whole kit. Mine came from Mustang Depot and I'm very happy with it. It was their Ultra suspension kit. You don't have to go that far but I would find a kit that will do the whole front suspension and a heavier front sway at a minimum. If your springs are sagging do those at the same time. Sounds like the old boy didn't do a lot of suspension maintenance so doing the whole thing is what I recommend. Do it now and you won't have to go in there ever couple of months to replace another piece.
