distributor replacement

So here's the deal. I swapped my 302 for a 351W. I have everything about ready for start up, except I don't know how to set the timing. I don't have any marks to go off of, so how do I go about setting the timing. Please be as detailed as possible, and try to make it idiot proof. Thanks

Why don't you have any marks? Without marks on your balancer it is going to be pretty hard.

The balance has a mark on TDC and the numbers, but I'm not sure where to line them up. The engine is new and so is the distributor.
