Default Rear gear swap

Hi all,
I've got a '68 mustang with 2.79 gears in it. I have a complete center carrier section off of a '74 with 3.55 gears in it. Will this complete center bolt right on to my '68 or are there some differences? Both are 8".
Thanks for the help
Chad

From what I know, it should bolt right up.. Here is a good link to read. http://www.mustangandfords.com/techa...ff/index1.html

A quick way to check to see if it bolts right up is to measure the axle. It should be 58.1 inches on the 68. That is if you are replacing the axle along with the pumpkin.
