Grant Steering Wheel Constant Click while Turning
Ok, this has been an on going problem with my steering wheel. I understand that the 2 pins are required to cancel the turn signal once the turn is made and the wheel is turned back to straight. But what is happening, the 2 pins hit on the turn signal cancellation piece even when the turn signal is not used. In other words, if I turn my wheel either far right or left, with or without the signal being used, those 2 pins hit the plastic cancellation peice inside the wheel. So it clicks all the time when it is turned. I was told to bend those little pins, I did this. I even cut some of them off so make them shorter. They still hit on the plastic cancellation peice. So how to I make them only hit the cancellation piece after the turn is made and the wheel is being turned back to staight?? I just can't seem to figure it out. Thanks for any help.
Try removing the metal ring that cancels the cam and see if you still hear the clicking. If so, then it's your horn connection pins that are making the noise. They might click as you turn the wheel if the connecting ring(s) on the wheel have any dimples or imperfections. If this is the case, the rings can be carefully dismantled so that you can flatten/smooth them out.
If the clicking noise is indeed the steel cancellation ring hitting the cancel cam, the the cam is most likely defective. It's a little molded plastic thingy, so this is not so rare. A new turn signal switch costs around $150.00, but you can order just the cam for under $10.
I dealt with a Grant wheel with imperfections for a year until I gave up, swallowed the $100 I spent on the wheel, and got a Ford 65 pony woodgrain wheel for $250. My wallet hurt for a bit, but I am so glad I have a much better working wheel, and a much better looking wheel.
If you have one of the Grant wheels that work right, fine. It will probably last forever. If not, sell it on eBay for $75 and ionvest in the real deal. You'll never look back, and you'll never have to buy this part ever again.
Plan B is to turn up the radio.
Good luck.

Thanks for your advice. I noticed my front right signal stopped working. With the steering wheel off, if I move the plastic signal cam with my hand to the right, the signal will start working. Once I let go, it stops. So does this mean I need to replace the whole switch with wiring, cam, etc. Or can I just get one of those cam replacment kits?
