Tough one indeed...shop around for parts, get estimates then sit down with spouse and make decision. If you are attached to the car..repair. If not, sell as is...

 

I would recommend getting another estimate. If you are the original owner, and kept up on maintenance, there should be no major issues. Get two or three opinons on the condition of your engine. At least then you can make an education decsision on what to do with your car. Just my 2 cents.

 

I think another estimate is in order. Find a shop that specializes in rebuilt engine swaps. Since all these guys do is swap in rebuilt engines all day, it's routine for them and they do it quickly. I bet such a shop would charge less than that $4700 estimate.
