yup, it doesn't close even if its close to closing. It opens fine though

 

Then I'm thinking it might be just a faulty switch at the console..

 

alright I am going to take out the whole center console hoping its just the switch.. thanks guys

 

Check and make sure the handbrake is set properly. If the motor can't sense the handbrake, it won't work. I had this happen to my '99... top went down, it started to rain, we pulled over and...nothing. I didn't realize that the wiring in the handbrake had shaken loose.
