Default Fox drop top doesn't drop

Hello everyone. I recently bought an 88 GT convertible. The guy I bought it from said the top doesn't work but you can jump the relay with a wire and make it work. I would like to figure out the problem and fix it properly. He has replaced the switch. When you push the switch nothing happens. No click, no motor noise, nothing. When you pull it the motor runs but the top is already up, it seems like it's working in that direction though. I swapped the relay, no luck. Any suggestions? Wiring diagram?

Also, is there any kind of "proper" procedure for lowering the top? Does it have to be running or in park or anything? Thanks!

far as procedure for lowering the top, you should be at a dead stop. on the 94's and up you need to have the parking brake up to lower it.
I think it's best to have the car running also but not nessessary.

OK Thanks. Now if my switch only worked...

I put it down by hand the other day, I just couldn't wait any longer.
