repainting luggage rack...help
I am in the process of restoring my vert. it's an 89lx. Has anyone removed the luggage rack to repaint it. there are a couple spots that are scuffed up because, well....i guess the previous owner acutally put luggage on it. I may eventually do away with it and add a spoiler or just leave the trunk clean when i repaint the whole car. has anyone removed their luggage rack and reinstalled it? I know they attach with rivets. I have never used a rivet gun. LMR sells the rivets. I don't think the rivet kit comes with extra ones in case you smurf one up though. is there an alternative to the rivets. Small screws with nuts on the underside of the trunk? any input would be appreciated.

You should be able to repaint it without removing it. Just mask the trunk lid off painters tape (blue masking tape) and a plastic dropcloth (newspaper bleeds thru).

Why not remove those ugly luggage racks completely and weld the holes shut.
